LOGO DESIGN: The Beginning
I was contacted via Instagram to design a logo for a poetry event taking place in south London. Héloïse de Satgé, the organizer and creator of Everything', provided me with the following brief:
-
“The vibe is - for everyone, for everything, hippy-dippy but also down to earth, approachable, accessible,”
-
“A poetry night that feels like a forehead kiss.”

Step 1: Brief focused research
The keywords given in the client’s brief focused my research journey and allowed me to begin planning/mapping. I use Pinterest as a resource for collecting reference materials which I subsequently download and arrange onto a mood board using Procreate.
As "Everything" is an upcoming spoken word poetry night event, the client has expressed their desire for a warm and comforting ambience akin to a "forehead kiss". Accordingly, I aimed to incorporate a representation of lips or a mouth within the logo design for "Everything".
The “Hippy-dippy“ images on Pinterest had the recurring motifs of cute, cartoonish doodles and wobbly, stylised bubble text - so this was something I wanted to implement in my own design. Furthermore, I found that the large text and fun doodles appealed to Héloïse’s want for an “approachable [and] accessible“ vibe.

Step 2: Designing
I decided to give the client two colour options, one following my hippy-dippy colour palette, and the other the lips/mouth palette.
To give the text a stylised, and fun vibe, I free-hand drew the text on Procreate.
I began by colouring the logo using traditional lip colours. I aimed to infuse a sense of style into the lips while avoiding a one-dimensional appearance. To achieve this, I added a pink stripe that runs through the text and top lip, using the clipping mask tool.
In order to create the hippy-dippy version, I envisioned a flower inspired by the vibrant 60s era. Implementing the mirror tool to ensure symmetry, I designed and incorporated the floral element using a clipping mask.
Step 3: Confirm with the client & send-off!
After completing the final designs, I promptly submitted them to the client for their consideration and approval. The client expressed their satisfaction and opted for the red version of the logo.
